Sun News Desk: A tourist drowned to death after taking bath in Cox's Bazar beach today.

The deceased's name is Mohammad Iqbal (52). He is a resident of Gazipur Tungi area.

Masum Billah, Executive Magistrate in charge of Tourism Cell of Cox's Bazar District Administration, confirmed this information.

He said that Mohammad Iqbal came to visit Cox's Bazar with his family. They reached Cox's Bazar and took a hotel at Sugandha Point on the beach. Around 10 am, Iqbal went for a walk on the beach. At one point they bathe at the fragrant point of the beach. At this time, Iqbal was swept away by the current water.

He also said that his family immediately informed the lifeguard and beach staff. Lifeguards and beach workers started rescue operations with the help of jet-skis.

At one point, he was rescued and brought to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital by ambulance. The doctor in charge of the hospital declared Suman dead.

The body has been kept at the Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem, said the Tourism Cell official.
