District correspondent : Tensions flared at the Kaliganj border in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj with citizens from both Bangladesh and India on Saturday.

Locals said that the situation escalated when a group of 500-600 Indians, allegedly assembled by the Border Security Force (BSF), gathered near the barbed wire fence and crossed into Bangladeshi territory. In response, Bangladeshi residents chased the intruders, leading to a clash.
During the confrontation, Indian citizens reportedly detonated several crude bombs, and BSF personnel fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been working to calm the situation.

Lt Col Golam Kibria, Commander of the 59th BGB Battalion, said "The situation is being brought under control. Further details will be disclosed after a full assessment."
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent further escalation.
