3 killed as bus hits pickup

Sun News Desk: At least 3 people have been killed and 2 others injured after a bus hit a pickup van on Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Mirsharai upazila of Chattogram on Saturday.

The deceased are- Md Khorshed Alam, 38, son of Abdur Rab Bepari of Shibchar upazila in Madaripur, Md Hasan, 42, of Swarupkathi upazila in Pirojpur and Md Sohel, 38, son of Mohammad Haydar Ali of Banaripara upazila in Barisal.

The injured are- Arif and Md Mizanur Rahman Mizan, 35. They were admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

According to the source, a bus of Ena Paribahan hit a parked pickup van from behind in the area. At that time, five people including the driver of the pickup van were injured. Later, Alam and Hasan were taken to Mirsharai Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared them dead. On the other hand, three other injured were rushed to the CMCH where the doctor declared Sohel dead.

Mohammad Alamgir, Officer-in-charge of Jorarganj Highway Police Station, told the ill-fated bus and pickup van were seized and taken to the police station. Bodies of the two deceased are under the police custody and another body is in the CMCH.
