Sun News Desk : A child drowned in a pond at Baskshiganj upazila in Jamalpur district today.

The deceased was identified as Moriyom Akter, 5, daughter of Babul Mia, a resident of Merurchar village.
Local union parishad chairman Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman said Moriyom along with her grandmother went to the adjacent village to visit her aunt on Sunday afternoon.

On Monday morning, the child slipped into the pond while playing with other children on the bank of the waterbody.
Md Sohel Rana, Bakshiganj Police Station officer-in-charge, confirmed the death matter.
