Amidst that, the recent procurement of Sinopharm vaccines from China, that are to be administered among people starting from July 1, acts as a beacon of hope in helping the Covid-19 crisis in the country to subside.
In a virtual bulletin on Wednesday, member secretary of the Vaccine Deployment Committee, Dr Shamsul Haque, let the public know of this development.
He additionally mentioned that the inoculation program will be conducted in Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) Hospital in Chittagong and Syedpur Sadar Hospital from 8am to 3pm.
The administration program will be carried across 40 centers in Dhaka, ensuring that medical, nursing, university students, and law enforcement agencies are given top priority among the ones receiving the doses.
Those taking the vaccine will be exempted from the ongoing nationwide week-long lockdown, that has restricted movement of people and vehicles except of health or emergency reasons.
The vaccine will not be given to anyone who is unregistered and does not have a confirmation received via SMS.
