After a long wait, National University is set to hold its second convocation on January 23, 2027.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who is the chancellor of National University, has consented to attend the convocation.

A delegation led by NU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr ASM Amanullah recently paid a courtesy visit to the president at Bangabhaban. During the meeting, the vice-chancellor formally invited the president to attend the university’s second convocation as its chancellor.

The president accepted the invitation and expressed his consent to attend the convocation. He also gave necessary directions to ensure that the event is organised smoothly and successfully.

Following the president’s consent, the university authorities have started preparations for the convocation.

Details, including the name of the convocation speaker, who will be eligible to attend, and other aspects of the event, will be announced soon at a press conference, university officials said.

The convocation is particularly significant for students of the university, which is affiliated with around 2,500 colleges across the country. After a long gap, the university is organising its convocation, making the event more than a formal ceremony for many students as it will mark official recognition of an important chapter of their academic journey.

National University held its first convocation on January 17, 2017, 25 years after its establishment. The second convocation is now set to be held 10 years after the first.
