The government, to abate the effects of Covid-19 in its third wave with the dangerous delta variant delving forward into the capital, has declared nationwide lockdown lasting a week.
A 21-point circular restricting the movement of people all around the country was issued by the Cabinet Division on Wednesday, June 30.
The week-long strict shutdown beginning from July 1 at 6am will remain enforceable till midnight on July 8.
Army troops from the BGB will work alongside Police and RAB to strengthen the imposition of the lockdown to better maintain health regulations.
All modes of transport, offices and shops will remain shut, with emergency services being exempted from the lockdown rules.
Anyone getting out of their homes to go out for any reasons other than emergency ones, are to be arrested.
All Senior Secretaries, Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Upazila Nirbahi Officers have been instructed by the Cabinet to take necessary steps to implement the restrictions imposed by the government.
