Three men allegedly involved in a shooting incident targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff have been arrested at Kota railway station in Rajasthan while travelling aboard the Pune-Jaipur Express, police said.
The accused, two from Haryana and one from Bihar, are suspected of having links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. According to investigators, two allegedly carried out the shooting, while the third is suspected of helping them escape.
One of the suspects is a 17-year-old minor from Sonipat in Haryana. The other two have been identified as Hritik Kumar, alias Roshan, 22, originally from Begusarai in Bihar, and Rehan, 18, from Sonipat. Kumar reportedly lives in Andheri West, Mumbai, and works as a delivery rider for Rapido.
A joint team of the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and Kota City Police arrested the three following information shared by Mumbai Police.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed the arrests, saying the suspects had fled towards Surat before boarding the Pune-Jaipur Express. Acting on information provided by Mumbai Police, Rajasthan Police tracked them down and arrested them at Kota station.
According to news agency ANI, investigators suspect the attack was carried out by trained shooters who had conducted surveillance on the actor before the incident.
Sources said the suspects allegedly monitored Shroff’s weekly routine and knew that he regularly visited a football ground in Juhu on Sundays. They reportedly tracked his movements and timed the attack as he was leaving the venue in his car.
After the shooting, the suspects allegedly followed a pre-planned escape route along SV Road through Vile Parle and Andheri. They reportedly abandoned their motorcycle near Andheri West railway station before boarding a train towards Borivali.
Preliminary intelligence suggested that the suspects later crossed into neighbouring Gujarat in an attempt to evade law enforcement, ANI reported.
Earlier, Mumbai Police released images of the suspected shooters as the investigation intensified. One close-up image showed two men standing together, with one wearing a black cap.
Shinde Assures Actor of Security
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde warned that gang violence would not be tolerated in Mumbai and vowed strong action against those responsible for the shooting.
Shinde visited Shroff at his residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area late Sunday night to enquire about his health and speak with his family. He assured them that adequate security would be provided.
The shooting occurred in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening when unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire at Shroff’s car. The actor escaped uninjured, while his driver and another person sustained injuries.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media post that circulated widely online. However, police have not yet verified the authenticity of the claim.
Following his meeting with Shroff, Shinde said criminal networks must be dismantled, referring to action taken against gangs during the 1990s.
“Their roots were dug up in the 1990s when gang wars had flourished. The time has come to uproot them in the same way again,” he said.
Responding to a question about the shooting, Shinde issued a stern warning to those responsible.
“It will be tit for tat, bullets for bullets,” he said.
Background of One Suspect
According to details reported about the suspects, Rehan had dropped out of school after failing Class 9 and had previously been jailed in a case involving the alleged illegal possession of firearms.
His maternal aunt, Afsana, said he had taken up welding work after his release from jail and would leave home saying he was going to work. She added that family members had repeatedly tried to discourage him from criminal activities.
These details form part of the reported background of the accused and have not, by themselves, established their guilt in the shooting case.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are examining the suspects’ alleged roles, movements and possible links to the attack.
