The pandemic plaguing the country, causing calamity nationwide, continues its reign of terror as it targets through the general population of the country.
With the pandemic perpetrating especially through areas like Rajshahi, 168 out of the 455 samples tested on Monday June 28, in 2 of the divisions labs, were shown to be positive, making the total detection rate to currently stand at 38.92% as a result of a 9.08% increase from the previous day.
In light of these events, Rajshahi Medical College Hospital has reported of the death of 25 people in the last 24 hours, making the total number of deaths in the hospital’s corona unit to stand at 340.
This marks the highest recorded daily-deaths due to Covid-19 since that of the 18 recorded in June 24.
Among those deceased, 9 were tested to be positive with the virus, while rest of the 16 passed away with symptoms of it.
Director of the hostpital Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani has reported that of those who died in the last 24 hours, 12 were from Rajshahi, 5 from Chapainawabganj, and Nator, 2 from Naogaon and 1 from Chuadanga, with 10 being men, and 15, women.
He additionally mentioned that 70 patients were admitted in the last 24 hours, tallying upto the total number of people receiving treatment as of 8am Tuesday June 29, to stand at 459 at the 405 bedded hospital.
Those unable to get a bed are being treated lying on the floors and balconies of RMCH.
Patients being treated in the Covid unit of the hospital are a total of 307, with another total of 18 people admitted in the ICU.
