When a sudden explosion from a building in Dhaka’s Moghbazar rattled through the area, it left both the buildings in its vicinity, along with law enforcement agencies frazzled in its wake.
Following the frightening explosion on June 27, more than 50 people were injured and 7 were announced dead, with 6 dying on spot, and one while receiving treatment at a private hospital.
2 others were added to the growing list of deceased, as one was found in the decimated building on Tuesday, while the other passed away at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Wednesday.
With the concerning amount of deaths as a result of the blast, 35-year-old Nur Nabi, who came in contact with the explosion while carrying on his living as a rickshaw van puller, died at the intensive care unit of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at about 4:30am on Thursday, July 1.
His death was confirmed by resident surgeon of the burn unit, SM Ayub Ali, and has now tragically tallied the death toll to reach 10.
The primary stage of the investigation that deemed the cause of the blast to be “leaked gas”, has had investigators charge seven unknown individuals for causing “death by negligence” since Tuesday June 29.
However, no-one has been arrested so far.
