With the effects of Covid-19 taking its toll on the people of the country, leaving lakhs affected and thousands dead, Bangladesh is in desperate need of continuing the inoculation efforts in helping the effects of the deadly virus to die down a bit.
Fortunately, the country is getting closer in once again being able to administer vaccine shots to battle Covid-19, as doses of Sinopharm vaccines from China, along with consignment of the Moderna vaccines under Covax have arrived in Bangladesh.
The first consignment of the doses arrived on Friday night at Hazrat Shajalal International Airport, and were received by by Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid.
As of Saturday morning, July 3, the country has procured its second consignment of Moderna vaccines, as well as receiving another 1 million dose of Sinopharm vaccines from China.
Over the past few hours Bangladesh has received about 4.5 million doses of vaccines that are hopefully to help abate the Covid-19 crisis.
