Lightning kills 5 workers

Sun News Desk: Five brickfield workers lost their lives and one more injured due to lightning in Rangpur's Pirganj on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased are- Nazmul, 18, son of Badsha Mia of Thaperhat Tilakpara village of Sadulyapur, Siam, 20, son of Sirul of Chakandi village of Idilpur union of the same upazila, Shahadat, 25, son of Al Amin, Rashedul, 24, son of Aytal And Jabbar, son of Abdul Jalil of Chaksholagari village in Pirganj.

The injured Mehedul is a resident of Rasulpur village in Kabilpur union of Pirganj upazila.

Abdul Awal, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirganj Police Station, said that police have been sent to the spot.

Rabiul Islam, Chairman of Kabilpur Union, said that all the victims were workers. They worked in a brickfield at Chaksholagari in Pirganj upazila, 32 miles east of Dhaperhat. He also said that the lightning incident happened suddenly in the rain.
