Two die inside septic tank

Sun News Desk: Two workers were died and another person injured while cleaning a septic tank in the Kalatali tourist zone of Cox's Bazar on Sunday.

The deceased are- Nurul Huda Jambu, 25, son of Abdul Monaf of jailgate area and Abul Hashem, 45, son of Solaiman of Samiti Para area.

Another injured worker is Hamid, 26, who has been admitted to Chittagong Medical College (CHMEC) Hospital.

According to locals, some workers went to clean the septic tank of a building of Pahartali in the city. When The first person entered the tank who fell ill. And then other two went there to rescue him as they also fell ill. Later, the top of the tank were broken and the three workers were recovered and taken to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital where Jambu and Hashem died while undergoing treatment.

Hasina Bibi, the wife of the deceased laborer Hashem, said when my husband was lowered into the septic tank, he fell ill and died there. I don't know if I can file a case. But I am trying not to postmortem the body.

Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox's Bazar Model Police Station, said the negligence and carelessness of the authorities were seen after visiting the scene. The building owner and contractor have disappeared after the incident.

He also said that one party does not want to do the autopsy, but both will be done. If the victims want to take legal action in the incident who will be assisted.
