4 killed in Gopalganj road crash

Sun News Desk: At least 4 people, including a policeman, were killed and 10 others were injured while a bus lost control and collided with a tree in Sadar upazila of Gopalganj on Friday.

The deceased are- Abdul Alim, 30, working in Barisal District Police and Zainal Abedin, 22, of Bagerhat Sadar. The identities of the other two were not immediately known.

Abul Kalam Azad, Deputy Director of Gopalganj Fire Service, said when a bus of Chittagong-bound, Didar Paribahan, from Khulna reached to Chandradighlia, the bus lost control and hit a nearby tree. After receiving the information, the fire service personnel reached the spot and conducted a rescue operation with the help of police and locals. Three people died on the spot and another died on the way to the hospital. At least10 people were injured in this incident. The injured were rescued and admitted to Gopalganj General Hospital.

Nasiruddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station, told the media that in the morning, a Chittagong-bound bus lost control and hit a nearby tree at Chandradighlia on the Dhaka-Khulna highway. The police and fire service personnel reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the victims and sent them Gopalganj 250-bed general hospital.
