Staff Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Virtual Book Festival on Thursday (December 31). The book festival will start at 9:30 am at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will join the function after 10 am. This information was revealed by the Ministry of Education on Wednesday (December 30).
The inaugural function will be attended by top officials including ministers and state ministers, secretaries and senior officials of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, and the Chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB). About 250 students, their parents and teachers from different schools of the capital will be present at BICC.
NCTB Chairman Prof Narayan Chandra Saha said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the New Year Book Festival like every year. Books will be handed over to virtual students in case of coronavirus. Books will be distributed in schools across the country for 12 days from the next day. ”
Meanwhile, on Wednesday (December 30) afternoon, the secretary of the ministry, the chairman of the NCTB and other concerned officials visited the BICC. A directive in this regard was issued by the Department of Secondary and Higher Education on Wednesday. It is said that free textbooks will be handed over to the students on January 1 in 2021 academic year. Textbooks will be distributed differently this year keeping in mind the health protection of Komalmati students.
According to the instructions, each class will be given three days to distribute the books. In other words, textbooks have to be distributed in four classes from sixth to ninth class three days a week for a total of 12 days.
