Lottery admission process in government schools starts on Tuesday

Staff Reporter: Government secondary schools in the country will start accepting applications for admission of students through online lottery from December 15 (Tuesday).

The Department of Secondary and Higher Education (Maushi) has issued a notification that applications can be submitted online ( https://gsa.teletalk.com.bd ) till 5 pm on December 27 (Sunday). Students will be selected for admission through online lottery on December 30.

Education Minister Dipu Moni has said that due to the Corona epidemic, students will be admitted to schools through lottery without any test.

According to the notification, 44 government secondary schools in Dhaka metropolis will be divided into three groups including three feeder branches. At the time of application a student will be able to select a maximum of five in the order of preference in a group.

Students will get a list of police station based educational institutions at the time of application selection. Candidates will then be able to select a maximum of 5 schools in order of preference on the basis of availability.

After receiving the application, a student will be selected through online lottery. A student gets a chance to choose a school in a group.

To apply for admission, a fee of Tk 110 can be paid by SMS from Teletalk's pre-paid mobile.

Every year only first class students were admitted through lottery but in other classes students were admitted through admission test. Admission to the ninth class was based on the results of Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations.

Mausi said that as there was no JSC-JDC examination this time, there was no opportunity to admit students in the ninth class on the basis of the results of the eighth.

Due to Corona, this time the examination will be taken for the admission of students from first to eighth class.
