Staff Reporter: Admission application process is starting from 15th December in government secondary school of Dhaka metropolis. It will continue till December 27. The online admission lottery will be held on December 30. The results will be released in the afternoon.

The proposal sent by the Department of Secondary and Higher Education (Maushi) regarding school admissions was approved by the Ministry of Education on Thursday (December 10th).

Confirming the matter on Thursday, Mausi Deputy Director Enamul Haque said, “The Ministry of Education has approved the admission policy for government secondary schools in Dhaka. Some new changes have been made. Catchment area has been changed to 50 percent instead of 40 percent. The price of admission form has been changed from Tk 170 to Tk 110. Online application will run from 15 to 27 December. Lottery will be organized in all schools on December 30 in one day.

Mausi's deputy director said, "The lottery will no longer be held in schools with big events like before. Admission lottery will be held through a software. It will be managed with the help of Teletalk.

It is learned that there are 39 government secondary schools and 3 branches in Dhaka metropolis. These schools in Dhaka have about 11,000 seats from first to ninth class. Two more nationalized schools are also being added.

Once again, the schools will be divided into three groups (A, B and C). This time a student will be able to give preference to five schools in a bunch. From here a school will be selected by lottery. For so many days an aspiring student could choose a bunch of schools.

Admission to all government schools in Dhaka metropolis has to be done online through Teletalk. The lottery will work online using the software, it will take less time. Therefore, all the school lotteries were proposed on December 30 in one day. Students will then be admitted to the selected school. Online applications will also be accepted in government schools outside Dhaka.
