Man shot dead in Savar

Sun News Desk : A person was shot dead while trying to stop robbers from breaking into his neighbour's house in Savar on Wednesday.

The incident happened around 3:00am when a group of robbers were trying to break into the house of one Shakil Munshi at Kathgora Nayapara area in Ashulia.

The deceased was identified as Mofizul Mollah, 32, a garment worker in the area.

Local union parishad member Mohammad Ali said robbers shot Mofizul and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured.

He was taken to the Centre for Woman and Child Health in Savar where doctors declared him dead, he added.

Harun-or-Rashid, manager (operation) of the hospital, said the man was brought dead to the hospital with multiple bullet wounds.

SM Kamruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station, said a man was shot dead but we cannot yet confirm whether it was during a robbery incident. we are investigating the matter.
