District reporter : A Bangladeshi people was shot to death by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Panchagarh border today.

The victim was identified as Anwar, 40, son of Rafiqul Islam of Debnagar area under Tentulia upazila in the district.
BGB and locals said Anwar went to India late Thursday night with a few others to fetch cows. On Friday morning, while they were returning with cows, BSF members chased them inside the Indian border. At that time, locals heard several rounds of gunfire.

Meanwhile, upon hearing the gunshots and to deter the smugglers, members of the BGB camp in Panchagarh also fired eight blank rounds. Later, the BSF took Anwar's body from the scene.
Sheikh Md Badruddoza, Nilphamari 56 BGB Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel, said "We will strongly protest against the incident. The process of bringing back the body through a flag meeting is underway."
After the incident, a smuggled Indian cow was seized from the border area of Bangladesh.
