Sun News Desk: One person were killed when a gas cylinder exploded while inflating balloons to be flown at the Victory Day official ceremony in Manikganj on Saturday. Another person were seriously injured at this time.

The deceased were identified as Anwar Bepari (50) and the injured person is Kabir Hossain (23).

The deceased is the son of Kawsa Bepari of Arokandi, village of Kotwali police station of Faridpur district. The injured Kabir Hossain (23) is the son of Atar Ali of Paschim Shanbandha village of Manikganj Sadar Upazila.

Mostafizur Rahman, Assistant Deputy Inspector Md. Manikganj District Commissioner's office, confirmed the matter.

Md. Mostafizur Rahman said that today around 4:30 am, 2 balloon sellers were inflating balloons to be blown up on Victory Day at the ground floor of the Deputy Commissioner's office. This time, gas cylinder exploded with a loud noise and they were seriously injured.

He also said that Anwar Bepari's one leg was severed from his body in the explosion. Manikganj Sadar police station and fire service personnel rescued the injured and admitted them to District Sadar Hospital. As the condition of Anwar Babari is critical, he was sent to Paralympic Hospital in Dhaka. And he died on the way.

Habil Hossain, Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) said that around 4 am, the balloon seller was inflating balloons for Anwar's Victory Day celebrations on the ground floor of the Deputy Commissioner's office. At that time, he was seriously injured due to cylinder explosion. Later he died on the way to Dhaka for better treatment. Legal action in this regard is under process.
