According to the report, the deaths toll increased due to consumption of poisonous liquor in two villages of the state. However, since 2016, the sale and consumption of alcohol has been banned in the region. It is alleged that alcohol is still being sold and consumed.

It is known that the victims started vomiting after drinking alcohol in Saran district of Patna, the capital of Bihar. After that, the situation became worse for them.
