Killed in Kadamtali

Police have recently discovered the corpses of 50 year old Masud Rana, along with his wife, Mousumi Islam, 45, and their younger daughter 21 year old daughter, Jannatul Islam in the capital’s Kadamtali area on June 19.

Along with them, two other family members, Moon’s husband Shafiqul Islam,40, as well as their 5 year old, were taken to the hospital to receive treatment as they were found lying unconscious

The Daily Star has reported that the prime suspect and the family’s elder daughter, 30 year old Mehjabin Islam Moon, is to be interrogated for the potential involvement of the victim’s deaths, as stated by deputy commissioner of Wari Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Shah Iftekhar Ahmed.

The Kadamtali police later found out from Moon’s admittance that the family had been sedated before the victims were strangled to death, while their hands and legs were tied up, the DC said.

Moon’s husband, Shafiqul, informed reported of the familial rift his wife had with both him and her family, which had been gradually straining their relationship.

Police officials, in attempting to unveil the events leading to the deaths, discovered that Masud, Moon’s father was tending to another marriage in Saudi Arabia, while Shafiqul was pursuing a relationship with Jannatul here. Additionally, the family was facing countless disputes over property and monetary wealth.

Moon’s aunt, Sonia Akhter accused Shafiqul of being the nub of all the problems the family had, relating to his involvement in a 2016 murder case in Keraniganj.

It was later informed by the Kadamtali OC that Shafiqul, along with his wife, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law, had been accused as to their involvement in the case.
