5 Lakh Allocated for Winter Clothes in Each District!

Staff Reporter: To combat the severity of winter, the government has allocated to buy winter clothes worth Tk 3 crore 20 lakh for free distribution among the poor people. Recently, a letter has been issued from the Disaster Management Department in favor of 64 Deputy Commissioners. Each district will get Rs 5 lakh for free distribution of blankets or winter clothes.

In case of buying blankets or winter clothes, all the rules and regulations related to the government have to be followed properly. Deputy Commissioners will distribute blankets or winter clothes locally. The letter said that the allocated money could not be spent on any other sector except purchase of blankets and winter clothes.

The concerned deputy commissioners will buy blankets and winter clothes and distribute them in consultation with the local MPs. It further said that a report should be sent to the Disaster Management Department after the distribution of blankets and winter clothes in the allocated funds.

According to the Meteorological Department on Tuesday (December 29), the cold snap has intensified today along with the intensification of winter. Mild to moderate cold wave is sweeping over Khulna division and 11 regions today.

According to the forecast, mild to moderate cold wave will continue over Khulna Division, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Srimangal, Rajshahi, Ishwardi, Badalgachhi, Dinajpur, Tentulia, Rajarhat, Barisal and Khepupara areas and may continue in some areas.
