Staff Reporter: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, we have returned the democratic rights of the people. The power is now in the hands of the people. As a result, we will say that the pace of development has been quite active. People are getting its benefits. Ordinary people are getting benefits. The people of the village are getting benefits, that is the big thing.
The Prime Minister made the remarks while inaugurating the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in a video conference from Ganobhaban on Tuesday (December 29). The meeting was held at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar NEC Conference Center.
Commenting on the country's development stalled due to military rule after '75, the Prime Minister said since there was no democratic continuity. The politics of assassination-coup conspiracy started in Bangladesh. Military detectors came to power one by one or the power was imprisoned inside that cantonment. That is why the pace of development has not continued. From there we have now been able to return the power of the people to the people.
Expressing gratitude to the people of the country, the Prime Minister said, "I am grateful to the people of Bangladesh for their trust and confidence in us." We have been able to take a long-term plan because we have been elected three times in a row. As we have been able to take the five-year plan. We formulate a perspective plan from 2010 to 2020. How much can Bangladesh improve during this period? Then we have another plan in hand from 2021 to 2041, that is, we have a plan for a period of 20 years. At the same time we have a delta plan till 2100.
Highlighting the country's progress during the Awami League government, Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh has also gained a status in the world court. Once upon a time, when Bangladesh was mentioned, everyone thought that this Bangladesh could only reach out to the people. When I was in the opposition, I had a lot of self-esteem and suffered a lot. It is a shame for us that the father of the nation has struggled all his life, suffered, brought freedom with the blood of millions of martyrs.
