Four robbers killed in N'ganj

District correspondent : Four robbers have been killed in a mob beating in Narayanganj's Sonargaon early Monday.

One is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). The incident happened at about 1:30am at Baghri upazila under Kanchpur Union.

Locals said that a gang of 10-12 people were taking preparation for dacoity. Seeing this, local people informed the matter through a loud speaker of a nearby mosque. Then the villagers, equipped with sticks, gathered at the spot. When the gang members tried to flee, locals started beating them mercilessly, leaving two dead on the scene.

Others jumped into different water bodies and ponds to protect themselves. Later, the angry mob picked up three robbers from water and beat up them. Of the three, two succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Md Moshsin, Sonargaon Police Station inspector, said the bodies of two were kept at Narayanagnj General Hospital morgue. Additional police have been deployed in the area.
