At the end of a program in Chittagong on Saturday (March 16), when journalists asked about Bangladesh's position on India's new citizenship law, he said all these things.
He said that the party had instead called for the election to be resisted, for that purpose it had caused violence in the country and only those who were associated with that violence had been arrested.

Hasan Mahmud also said that the United States has said that they are working to advance partnership and relations with Bangladesh. We are also working with the United States to advance the relationship and make it closer and expand our multi-dimensional relationship. We are working with the United States to work together in the country and in the international arena in the coming days.
Mentioning that we respect the different opinion of any country, the foreign minister said that most countries, including the United States, have expressed their intention to advance relations with us in the future. The President of the United States has also written to the Prime Minister expressing his intention to improve relations. Therefore, in our opinion, the election has been very beautiful, free and fair from the point of view of this region.
