Sun Nes Desk: The European Union (EU) has announced a fund 6.2 million euros for Rohingya refugees and local people in Cox's Bazar on Monday. The organization's donation was welcomed by the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

According to UNHCR, the European Union has donated 6.2 million euros through the headquarters of the European Commission's Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations. Through this ongoing protection and assistance programs will continue for the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and the local people who shelter them.
Johannes von der Klaau, UNHCR's representative in Bangladesh, said that humanitarian operations for the Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar and the local people hosting them are entering sixth year. The ongoing support of the European Union to UNHCR's activities in the region is very important.

Anna Orlandini, who is in charge of the European Union's humanitarian program in Bangladesh, said that nearly one million Rohingya refugees are living in dire conditions in Bangladesh. Especially for their protection, we need your unwavering support.
This fund from UNHCR will ensure adequate and meaningful protection for refugees, particularly those in vulnerable situations, to improve their safety, dignity and status.
