Covid-19 vaccine purchase agreement in 2-4 days: Health minister

Staff Correspondent: The government is in contact with the manufacturer that have developed vaccines for coronavirus (Covid-19). Health Minister Zahid Malek said an agreement would be reached in a couple of days to bring the vaccine.

The minister made these remarks while distributing food packages and hygiene packets among the victims of the Coronavirus organized by the District Red Crescent Society at Shuvro Center in Garpara, Manikganj on Saturday (October 31).

The health minister said that the incidence of Coronavirus is likely to increase during the coming winter, adding that the number of infected has increased all over the world. "We are communicating with those who are developing vaccines. There will be an agreement in two to four days to bring the vaccine." said the health minister.

He said "Corona has not yet left the country. We have to follow the hygiene rules. Compared to the other countries, the death rate in Corona is much lower in our country. Two and a quarter million people have died in America. Although not a single death is desirable for us. By the grace of God we are much better. We are fine because we are following the hygiene rules. we need to be patient."

Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Ferdous, District Red Crescent Society Chairman Advocate Golam Mohiuddin, Secretary Israfil Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Administration) Mohammad Hafizur Rahman and others were present on the event.

Later, the health minister distributed food packages and hygiene packets among one thousand affected families.
