It commended Bangladesh for its continued cooperation with the ICC, IIMM and other accountability mechanisms to ensure justice and accountability for human rights violations against the Rohingya.

The statement also said that under the policy of 'Responsibility and Burden Sharing', the United Nations member countries have been called upon to continue humanitarian assistance for the Rohingyas in Bangladesh in this resolution.

Rabab Fatima, Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United Nations, said that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina opened the border of Bangladesh for displaced Rohingyas in 2017 on humanitarian grounds. But it is regrettable that Myanmar's failure to create an environment conducive to the self-motivated, safe and sustainable return of the Rohingya has led to long-term problems in Bangladesh.

This UN resolution is a unique example of regional and international solidarity towards Rohingya Muslims. However, it is of great concern that the situation in Myanmar continues to deteriorate. As a result, the return of Rohingyas is delayed.
