Nepal to export electricity

Sun News Desk: Nepalese ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari said Nepal will initially supply 40-50 MW electricity to Bangladesh, but the amount will increase after the completion of a mega project in their power sector.

PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim told reporters that the diplomat made the comment when he met with prime minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence-Ganabhaban on Tuesday.

Ihsanul Karim said, "After completing the project, Nepal will be able to provide more electricity to Bangladesh."

Ghanshyam Bhandari expressed his country's keen interest for using Bangladesh's Banglabandha Port for their export purposes. Because this port is closer to Nepal than Burimari port.

Appreciating the cooperation of Bangladesh in the education sector, the Ambassador of Nepal said that many Nepali students are studying in Bangladesh for higher education.

Apart from this, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recalled the support of Nepal by providing arms and ammunition to the freedom fighters during the independence war of Bangladesh in 1971.

Sheikh Hasina emphasized on connectivity among countries in the region, especially Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and India.

He emphasized on strengthening trade between Bangladesh and Nepal.
