Electricity prices to increase

Staff reporter : Electricity prices has increased in the country due to the increase in the prices of daily essential products. The retail price of electricity for residential customers will be increased by 34 to 70 paisa per unit. The new rates will be effective from March 1.

State Minister for Power, Energy, and Minerals Resources Nasrul Hamid informed this on Tuesday at his office in the Secretariat.

The state minister said that the price of electricity will be adjusted to get out of the subsidy. As part of this, electricity prices will be adjusted for the next 3 years. This new electricity price will be effective from the first week of March.

Nasrul Hamid said that the price of gas will also be adjusted in the same way. If the price increases in the international market, the price will be increased. Gas price will be reduced if the price falls in the international market. This adjustment will also be implemented from the first week of March.
