A-League leader killed in road accident

Sun News Desk: One person was killed after being hit by covered van in Baraigram, Natore on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as an Awami League leader named Siddiqur Rahman Khanm, 65.

The deceased Siddiqur Rahman was the president of Ward No. 3 branch of Banpara Municipal Awami League. He is the son of deceased Rajen Khan of Officepara of Banpara town. He was a construction contractor by profession.

The local police said that Awami League leader Siddiqur Rahman left for home from Banpara market on a motorcycle around 11 o'clock today. On the way, he was seriously injured when a covered van coming from the opposite direction hit the motorcycle when he reached Banpara food warehouse on the Natore-Pabna highway. Later locals rescued him and took him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he died.

Abu Siddique, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Baraigram police station said that the driver of the covered van has been arrested. Legal action in this regard is under process.
