International Desk:Roadside bombs killed at least five civilians in Afghanistan's Helmand province.
Omar Jawak, a spokesman for the provincial governor, said the incident took place in the Chahar Gul area of Lashkar Gah town around 11am on Friday.
Tolo News, a local media outlet in Afghanistan, reported that a civilian vehicle ran over an explosive device in the Kushat-e Kohna district of Herat province on Friday morning. Seven women traveling in a minivan were wounded.The death toll may rise, the source added.
A member of a special police unit was also killed in a Taliban attack in the town of Pul-e Khumiri in Baghlan province on Thursday night.
The local government has blamed Taliban militants,saying the explosive device was planted by Taliban insurgents. Afghanistan has seen a nationwide spike in bombings and violence as peace negotiations in Qatar between the Taliban and the Afghan government have stalled.
