3 killed as two buses collide

Sun News Desk: At least 3 people were killed and 15 others injured in a collision between two buses on Rangpur-Dinajpur highway at Chikli Doalipara of Rangpur on Tuesday.

The deceased are identified as Kalam Hossain (40), Muslim Mia (38). The identity of the another person could not be known immediately.

According to police and eyewitnesses, the collision took place between a bus of Tripti Paribahan and Saimon Paribahan. Two people were killed on the spot and 15 others injured. The injured were taken to Taraganj Upazila Health Complex where another person died.

Taraganj Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Mohammad Mahbub Morshed confirmed the matter.

He said that after receiving the information about the accident, police and fire service workers rescued the injured from the spot. The injured people have been sent to the hospital.

He also said that the families of the deceased are being contacted to hand over the bodies.

Sheikh Mohammad Mahbub Morshed said that two buses have been recovered after the accident. After this incident, the bus driver and helpers quickly ran away from the scene. However, legal action will be taken soon.
