Two killed in bus-pickup collision

Staff reporter : Two people have been killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a pickup van at Matuail in the capital’s Jatrabari on Monday.

The deceased were identified as pickup van driver Babul Chisty, 45 and Kabir Hossain, 50.

They were critically injured and rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the doctors on duty declared Babul dead. Later, Kabir died around 5:30am.

A pedestrian named Tariqul Islam said the pickup van collided head-on with the bus while taking U-turn, leaving two critically injured.

Md Bachchu Miah, In-charge of DMCH’s police outpost, said the bodies were kept at the hospital’s morgue. The concerned police station was informed about the matter.
