3 died after launch hits bridge

Sun News Desk: Three people were killed and another two people injured when a launch collided with Shaikhya bridge in Gosairhat upazila of Shariatpur on Sunday.

The deceased are- Tanji, 23, son of Shahali Molla at Kodalpur, Shakeel Ahmed, 25, son of Nazim Uddin at Dainabghil area of ​​Tangail and Sagar Ali, 23, son of Borhan Ali at Raghunathpur area of Jamalpur.

The injured are- Hira, 23, and Sagar Rari, 23, were seriously injured. Hira has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition is critical and Rari is admitted to Upazila Health Complex.

Launch passengers said that the 'Swarnadwip Plus' launch which left Dhaka for Gosairhatpatti collided with the Shaikhya Bridge around 4:30 am. At this time, the iron water tank on the roof of the launch spilled on the passengers. Tanji died on the spot. Shakeel, Sagar Ali, Hira and Sagar Rari were injured. When the launch passengers took them to Gosairhat Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared Shakil and Sagar Ali dead. Hira suffered serious injuries in various parts of his body.

Injured Sagar Rari said we were lying on the roof of the second floor of the launch. There were a loud noise suddenly, I can't say what happened to me. Later, I saw that I was in the hospital.

Matiur Rahman, Deputy Inspector (SI) of Gosairhat Police Station, said three people were killed and two were injured in the collision between the bridge and the launch. In this incident, the launch passengers tried to beat Lashkar Emran Hoseb Nannu Bepari and Master M Nuruzzaman. After getting the information, we went there to rescue them and brought them to the police station.

Kafi bin Kabir, Gosairhat Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) told that he heard about the accident. Necessary action will be taken after the whole inquiry.
