International Desk: At least 15 people were killed and another 40 injured when a bus crashed into a lorry on a motorway in Central India. The death toll is expected to rise as the injured are in serious condition, reports NDTV.

A passenger bus collided with a lorry carrying goods on National Highway in Suhagi Pahari area of Rewar on Friday. The passenger bus overturned and 15 people died on the spot. Twenty of the injured have been admitted to a hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj. The rest were taken to local hospitals.
All the victims in the tragic road accident are residents and workers of Uttar Pradesh. They were returning home by bus on the occasion of Diwali.

Police said there were at least 60 passengers in the long-distance bus from Telangana in Hyderabad to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. After receiving the news of the accident, the local outpost police and the villagers started the rescue operation.
According to the district administration, the lorry first hit the back of a truck in front and stopped on the road. Immediately the bus behind hit the lorry.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a compensation to the families of the victims.
