According to the case and court sources, A woman (40) was beaten and gang-raped while her husband and children were tied up on the night of the 11th National elections. The victim is a mother of four children. The assaulted woman alleged that the attack and rape happened because she did not vote for their preferred symbol. The incident was widely discussed at home and abroad. The day after that incident (December 31), her husdand filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Char Jabbar Police Station. After the investigation of the case, the District Detective Police (DB) filed a charge sheet against 16 people, including member Ruhul Amin, who was expelled from Subarnachar Upazila Awami League on March 27, 2019.
In the court, Saleh Ahmad Sohail Khan, the public prosecutor of the state, said that the state presented 23 witnesses in the case. Five defense witnesses were presented by the accused. However, none of the witnesses mentioned in their statement that such an incident took place due to non-voting of the preferred symbol at the polling station.
