Staff Reporter: A construction worker named Md. Shakib Islam (23) died after falling from the roof of the second floor of a newly constructed building in the area under Cantonment Police Station.

The accident took place at 10 am on Saturday (November 20) on the ECB premises.

Lebu Mia, a colleague of the deceased construction worker, said Shakib, who was a rod mechanic by profession, was seriously injured when he fell from the top while working on a column board on the roof of the second floor of a building under construction in the morning. He was rescued and taken to the local Kurmitola General Hospital.

He further said that after taking the injured Shakib to the hospital, the on-duty doctor declared him dead at 1:15 pm while he was undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, Bachchu Mia, a police inspector at the DMCH police camp, said the body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

The deceased was identified as Shakib, son of Raiful Islam of Basunia Para village under Jaldhaka Upazila of Nilphamari district.
