According to the BBC, at least 46 people have died in the wildfires in the South American country of Chile, according to the country's president, Gabriel Boric.
The mayor of the coastal tourist town of Viña del Mar said more than 200 residents were reported missing in the fire so far.
The Ministry of Interior of this South American country said that more than 43,000 hectares of land have been damaged in this terrible fire across the country. Mainly due to higher than normal temperature and strong wind, this fire has become more intense.

In a separate report, Reuters reports that at least 46 people have died in wildfires in central Chile on Saturday (February 3), President Gabriel Boric said.
He said the death toll may increase. The wildfires have left much of the Valparaiso region covered in black smoke.
About 1 million people live in central Chile. Firefighters are using helicopters and trucks to battle the blaze as it spreads.

Chilean authorities said areas around the coastal tourist town of Viña del Mar were the worst hit. Rescue teams are struggling to reach all affected areas.
Giving an update on the loss of life in the fire, President Borik said that 40 people died in the fire. 6 more burnt people died in the hospital. In view of this catastrophic situation, the death toll will surely increase in the next few hours. The situation is very difficult.
