India is giving 12 lakh vaccines as a gift

Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh is going to receive 1.2 million doses of Oxford Astrajeneka vaccine as.an independence Day gift from India For the second time, the Indian government is sending the vaccine as a gift to fight the Corona epidemic. Earlier, India had given 2 million doses of vaccine in January.

A source in the Department of Health and the Indian High Commission confirmed the matter on Thursday (March 25th) morning. The vaccine will arrive at Shahjalal International Airport on Friday (March 26) at 1.30 pm on a special Air India flight (AL1230), sources said.

A letter from the Indian High Commission to the Bangladesh government on Wednesday (March 24th) said the 1.2 million doses of the vaccine were being given as a gift by the Indian government. The 12 lakh doses of vaccine are being sent by India as part of its commitment to stand by Bangladesh in controlling the corona epidemic.

The letter said the flight would depart from Mumbai airport at 8.30 am. Refrigeration trucks, forklifts, C&F agents, customs clearances, approval of the concerned ministries and other related matters are requested to be prepared at the airport for speedy disposal of the vaccines. In order to facilitate the work, documents like airway bill, packing list, batch release certificate etc. have been sent with this letter.

According to the Department of Health, 5,069,049 people have been vaccinated against coronavirus in the country since the start of the vaccination program on Wednesday (March 24). Of these, 31 lakh 8 thousand 994 are males and 19 lakh 55 are females. Of these, 923 had side effects such as headache,throat sore and mild fever.
