Staff Reporter Burichang (Comilla): Transport workers are protesting on the road in protest of the killing of a checker named Raihan Uddin Bhuiyan after he got off a moving bus at Comilla's Burichang. Meanwhile, Parveen Akhter, wife of the deceased, claimed that the owner of the transport in Dhaka was directly involved in the murder.
Protests are taking place on this road on Wednesday (November 17) morning. Earlier on Tuesday night, the murder took place in the Sharifpur area of Mainamati Union on the Sylhet-Comilla highway. The deceased was identified as Raihan, a resident of Fultuli village under Debidwar Upazila.
It is learned that on Tuesday night, Mainamati Sharifpur Point got off the Tisha bus on Comilla-Sylhet highway in Comilla district town and some workers and terrorists randomly beat up Checker Raihan and left him on the side of the road. Upon receiving the news, his wife Parveen Swami (Raihan) was rescued from the side of the road and taken to Comilla Medical Hospital where the doctor on duty declared her dead. Later, Raihan's wife Parveen Akhter filed a murder case against him at Burichang police station on Wednesday.
Raihan's wife said, "I identify the accused. They were addicted to drugs. Their home is in Burichang police station area."
Burichang Police Station OC Alamgir Hossain said the body was recovered from the hospital. I will unravel the mystery of the real murder by proper investigation InshaAllah. The culprit will not be released. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway. He also said that efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
Meanwhile, the leaders of Comilla district transport bus owners 'workers' organizations have said that they will hold a human chain and a rally next Saturday to demand the arrest and trial of the culprits.
