Padma Bridge Rail link Design Flaw: Experts Hope to Fix in a Week

Own representative, Munshiganj: Finally, the solutions of the alignment fault in the Padma Bridge Project Rail Link Project has been submitted by the exparts. The expart pannel of The Padma Multipurpose Bridge project has submitted three possible solutions.

The design fault is not a complicated issue and can be fixed within a week said experts and high government officials. On Thursday, after visiting both ends of the two projects officials realized that to bring some corrections of the design is a must.

On September 14, a fault in the headroom height of the Padma Bridge Rail Link project was detected. The existing design, the railroad would obstruct traffic movement on the approach roads to the Padma Bridge at both Mawa and Janjira ends.

"Its not a massive design fault, so no need of major structural changes", said Prof. Shamim Z Bosunia, chairman of the Expert pannel. "We identified an alignment fault where the bridge and the rail link cross each other. We have already submitted a prosal with three possible solutions to the bridge division"

,“We have received the proposal and are working on it now. We are hopeful to solve the design related problem within this week.”, said Belayet Hossain, secretary of the Bridges Division.

According to the Bridges Division, instead of the standard height of 5.7m. the height of the rail line was set at 4.8m and 5.2m at Mawa and Janjira, respectively. in addition, the design shows the width of the rail link as 9.5m at Janjira and 10m at Mawa, instead of the standard 15.5m.

“Padma Bridge is a part of the Asian Highway, so problems in the measurements should be removed, Said Professor Bosunia
