Staff Correspondent: Government has directed to complete the admission process in government primary schools by next February. The Department of Primary Education on Tuesday ,January 5th sent the instructions to all deputy directors of primary education and district primary education officers.
Government primary schools across the country are closed due to the coronavirus situation. In view of this, to keep the admissin process on going it has been asked to ensure the admission by following seven guidelines.
Admission to government primary schools must be completed by February, the directive said. Children seeking admission into primary schools for pre-primary to fifth gradel will be enrolled through a lottery system instead of admission test.
It further said that all the children in the catchment area of government primary schools should be admitted in pre-primary and first grade. The names, addresses and necessary information of the admitted children should be written in the registrar and admitted in the respective class.
Admission of children should be ensured following the guidelines of the government health and hygiene rules issued at different times. Sick teachers, students, staff and child-expecting teachers should be prevented from attending school. Parents should be requested not to come to school with sick students. The guidelines mention that school authorities will take special measures to ensure admission of sick students.
It has also been said that measures should be taken for the students who have dropped out due to the closure of private kindergartens in the pandemic to ensure admission in the government primary schools under the respective clusters.
