International Desk: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder chairman Imran Khan has appealed against the verdict in the Toshakhana corruption and Cipher cases.

He appealed to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday (February 16).

PTI's lawyer Barrister Saeed Ali Zafar submitted Imran Khan's appeal to the court. He said that Imran Khan will appeal against the verdict in the Iddat case. A copy of the challenge must be submitted to the court on Saturday (February 17).

The appeal stated that the arrest and remand hearing of Imran Khan on August 5 last year was conducted in the most outrageous and secret manner. A hasty judgment was passed against Imran Khan without any logical reason. The court concluded the trial in less than 20 days. The appeal also claimed that the judge's conduct violated Imran Khan's fundamental right to a fair trial.

Incidentally, on August 5 last year, Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Humayun Dilawar of Islamabad sentenced Imran Khan to 3 years imprisonment in the Toshakhana corruption case. Imran Khan was arrested immediately after the verdict was announced. At the same time, the Election Commission (ECP) declared the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ineligible for election for five years.

On the other hand, a special court sentenced Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to 10 years in prison on January 30 of this year in the secret document leak or cipher case. A day later, the court sentenced Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to 14 years in prison in the Toshakhana case.
