Staff Reporter : A court has granted bail to Irfan Selim, ousted councilor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) ward 30 and son of Dhaka-6 MP Haji Selim. The Additional District Magistrate of Dhaka granted him bail in two cases.
In two cases, the RAB mobile court sentenced him one year imprisonment.
Irfan Selim's lawyer Shree Prannath confirmed this information to the media on Tuesday.
In this regard, he said, 'Irfan Selim appealed in the Additional District Magistrate's Court of Dhaka against the sentence given by the mobile court of RAB . After the hearing, the court granted bail on a bond of Tk 50,000.
On October 26, 2020, Irfan Selim was sentenced to six months in prison for possessing illegal walkie-talkies and one year for possessing illegal drugs.
On the night of October 25, Wasif Ahmed Khan, a naval officer, was beaten by some people from MP Haji Mohammad Selim's government vehicle. The incident took place near Kalabagan signal in the capital. The next day, a case was filed against Haji Selim's son and seven others at Dhanmondi police station.
A total of five criminal offenses have been mentioned in the case.
