152 Passengers Canceled Biman Flight for Quarantine Instructions

Staff Rporter: Passengers from the UK have to stay in the institutional quarantine at the hotel for 14 days at their own expense. For this direction of the Bangladesh government, 152 passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines canceled their flights. That is why 48 passengers will arrive directly at Sylhet Osmani International Airport from London on Monday January 4.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Sylhet office manager Shahnewaz Majumder said the flight, which would arrive in Sylhet on Monday, had more than 200 passengers on board. But 152 passengers canceled their flights as they have to stay in quarantine for 14 days at their own cost. For this reason, the flight will come from London with only 48 passengers.

Meanwhile, the Sylhet district administration has prepared two hotels in the city for the institutional quarantine of passengers from the United Kingdom. Passengers returning home this afternoon will be quarantined at their own expense at Hotel Holy Gate and Hotel Star Specification in the Dargah Gate area of the city.

Shamma Labiba Arnab, Assistant Commissioner (Covid-19 and Media Cell) at the Sylhet Deputy Commissioner's Office, said many UK expatriates have lost interest in coming to the country after being instructed to stay in the institutional quarantine at their own expense.

According to Osmani Airport sources, every Monday and Thursday of the week there are direct flights from Heathrow Airport in London to Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport. The last three flights of the airline arrived at Osmani Airport on December, 24 with 202 passengers, on December 28 with 202 passengers and on December 31 with 237 passengers. Of the passengers who arrived in these three days, 165, 144 and 202 were passengers from Sylhet respectively. The rest went to Dhaka.
