Staff Correspondent: Out of 329 municipalities of the country, polls will be held in 56 on February 14. Senior secretary of the EC, Alamgir announced the schedule during a briefing at the EC headquarters on Sunday January 3.

According to the schedule, the submission of nomination papers to the Returning Officer will start on January 16, scrutinized onJanuary 19. The last date for withdrawal of candidacy is January 26.

Earlier, the second phase of elections in 62 municipalities will be held on January 16. In the third phase, elections will be held on January 30 in 64 municipalities.

There are a total of 329 municipalities in the country. According to the law, the local government body must arrange polls within 90 days before the expiration of the term.
