IPTV registration soon

Staff Correspondent: Registration of IPTV will be given soon and guidelines will be made before that, said the Minister of Information and Broadcasting. Dr. Hasan Mahmud.

He was speaking to reporters after a meeting with heads of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and Department of Information at an inter-ministerial meeting to review the registration of IP TVs held at the Information and Broadcasting Ministry's meeting room at the Secretariat on Wednesday (September 22nd).

Describing IP TV as a medium of new media, Minister Hasan Mahmud said, "We want new media to be more developed but at the same time it should not be used differently in any way, so that our culture and traditions are preserved." So that our new generation can use this medium to build life, so that they become more convinced in building life, so that patriotism, patriotism, values, affection are developed among them, people do not become instruments with the use of instruments, humanity survives, It is important to keep an eye on that. To that end, we are setting a number of guidelines and our goal is to further develop this sector. We are doing this for the needs of the country on the basis of rules and regulations and for the need to build the next generation, so that it can be used to take the country to the dream address of Bangabandhu.

The Information Minister said that besides IP TV, today's meeting also discussed OTT platform policy and other new media. We have done a lot of reviews on this evolving versatile medium. And in the meeting we decided that the registration of IP TV will be given very soon, before that the guidelines will be made.

Dr. Hasan said, “Today, Bangladesh has been transformed into a truly digital Bangladesh under the leadership of Bangabandhu Kanya Jannetri Sheikh Hasina and under the guidance of Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT Advisor to the Prime Minister. The idea of ​​this Digital Bangladesh came from Sajib Wazed Joy, the grandson of the Father of the Nation ICT Advisor, which was implemented by Prime Minister Bangabandhu Kanya. And accordingly, multifaceted broadcasting activities are taking place in our country. Earlier, broadcasting was done only through radio and television. Now it is being broadcast through new media.

The Information Minister said, "We have taken initiative to give IP TV registration in Bangladesh. About 600 applications have been submitted." We have taken the initiative to give registration by verification and selection of many has been completed. Our meeting today is aimed at setting a guideline i.e. registration conditions before registering. Although we are taking care of this issue, other ministries are involved in this issue, especially telecom and ICT.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said the means of entertainment, education and training have changed in the era of massive expansion of information technology. At a time when it was limited to electronic or conventional print media, new media such as social media, internet protocol television and radio, over the top (OTT) platforms, video streaming, video on demand have been created.

We want these new media to be developed in the country, our youth, artists, literary, cultural minded, technologists to be the initiators of it, said State Minister Palak. In order for our social values ​​not to be hurt and for our next generation not to be encouraged in distorted culture or distorted entertainment, the demand of the time is that IP TV and IP radio need a guide.

After the meeting, the minister told reporters, 'Journalists are our development partners. Everyone should be careful so that no one can tarnish the image of the bank accounts of the journalist leaders and ruin the cordial relations of the journalists with the government. There is no room for misunderstanding. I am looking into the matter as the Minister in charge of the Ministry of Information.
