According to the India and Bangladesh Meteorological Department, moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast in the next 48 hours in many parts of northern Bangladesh and nearby Himalayan foothills of West Bengal, Sikkim and Darjeeling. As a result, the water level of Punarbhaba, Tangon, Upper Karatoya, Upper Atrai, Teesta, Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers in the northern part of the country may increase rapidly in 48 hours. This could lead to flash floods in some parts of the river basin.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in a forecast for the next 24 hours from 6 pm on Wednesday (August 11) that light to moderate rain with thundershowers will be temporary in most parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and in many parts of Khulna, Barisal, Dhaka and Chittagong divisions.
